about robet kan

 Robet, jogja's meditation artist.
He is a devout Buddhist, and his works often include Nirvana Buddha and Kusōzu.
Robet braids his own cut hair like a muffler and usually wraps it around his waist, or wraps his head around like a snake to make it look like a hat.

He says he cleanses his body before painting.
For example, during the Islamic fasting month (puasa), he himself eats fruits and cleans himself.
After purifying his body, he will bathe and meditate in a special place, exhaling cigarette smoke. (I was also mixed with Islāmreligion, and while I was fasting for a month, he took me to a midnight meditation. The meditation had a strange experience that was difficult to write. )
The above explanation still cannot compensate for Robet's daily routines and significance, and trying to write all about it would be a huge amount of sentences, so I would like to mention his art work soon.
(As an aside, about 90% of yogyakarta citizens are Islamic, so I didn't see any Buddhists other than him during my stay. Partly because of that, the Buddhist temple was destroyed in the past. However, the world's largest Buddhist temple "Borobudur", which exists in the remote forest and escaped destruction, still exists, and prays are held at the festival called "Waisak" which is held only once a year in the temple. Therefore, Buddhists gather from all over the world.)

I feel "GOKURAKU JOUDO" in his work.
A Buddha with a very sad expression is meditation or nirvana.
Correctly, it seems to be a very relaxed world, reminiscent of the quiet and clean world where Buddha lives.
However, the composition and color of his work is sometimes violent. The Buddha with only the statue of his neck is arranged in vivid colors.
Despite this, it is a completed work suitable for "GOKURAKU JOUDO".
It may be nice to get a glimpse of his training and circumstances by looking at the pictures.
In addition, his Buddhist thought includes the Balinese Hindu color peculiar to yogyakarta, so the influence of land and growth is also included, and although the motif is popular, I feel the heterogeneity that only he can draw.

Thankfully, he's left a video on YouTube with the art work he does every day in a very special place.
Below is a video of the place where I had a strange experience from him, where he meditated on counting the colors and numbers of fish swimming in the pond after a midnight bath, from his YouTube. Reprinted.
If you are interested, please take a look.

 terima kashi banyak!
